Who I am and Why I Love Coaching

My Story

PXL_20240129_195859904~3 (1).jpg

I am a certified coach who is passionate about helping clients experience vitality and wholeness. In addition to a certificate in integrative health and wellness coaching from Maryland University of Integrative Health, I hold a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, where I applied a strengths-based and whole-person approach to community development. This foundation continues to shape my commitment to equity, access, and holistic care.

I came to coaching through my own personal experience of loss and chronic illness in the midst of navigating the joys and challenges of motherhood and a very broken healthcare system. I learned first hand how healing is multidimensional - physical, emotional, spiritual - and requires ongoing commitment as well as the support of community. My own healing journey has included bringing my sense of call into greater focus. I have found that doing more of what I love, talking to people about what makes them come alive, learning about their deepest hopes and desires for themselves and for the world, and supporting them as they bring those hopes and desires into being, is healing for me as much as it is for them.

I would love to walk alongside and in support of you as you work towards your own transformation, towards embodying your fullest and most enlivened self.

More about Coaching with me

As your coach, my job is to support you in uncovering the wisdom and resources you already have.  I believe you are already whole and magnificent.  I offer deep listening, nonjudgmental and empathetic presence, and thought-provoking questions as you share and discover more about what it means to be you at your best.

I love working with others who are interested in deep and transformational growth. While I work with anyone who is looking to live with a greater sense of joy and purpose, I have a particular interest in partnering with highly sensitive people and women with chronic health conditions or at any stage of the parenting journey - those dealing with fertility challenges, pregnancy, miscarriage, postpartum, parenting young children, and generally looking to balance personal wellbeing with the other demands of life.

Sylvia's coaching style is gentle, unhurried, and wise. I appreciate how she begins each session with a body awareness exercise, which helps me to be fully present in the moment.

Sylvia is an excellent listener, and knows how to ask questions that help me clear the bramble in my mind. I would conclude each coaching session not only with surprising insights, but also concrete action steps that Sylvia helped me name for myself, out of my own desires and needs. Sylvia has helped me to know myself better; I cannot recommend her coaching highly enough.
